第2期のイオンエンジン運転が5月12日から始まりましたが、この運用開始を海外の「はやぶさ２」プロジェクトメンバーに伝えたところ、たくさんのメッセージが送られてきました。特に、現在の新型コロナウイルスで世の中全体が大変な状況において、非常に勇気づけられるメッセージですので、ご紹介します。順不同です。また、【　】内は和訳です。

現在の新型コロナウイルスによる世界的な感染拡大につきましては、医療関係者をはじめとして多くの方々が、多大なご苦労をされていたり困難な状況になっていたりするかと思います。「はやぶさ２」プロジェクトとしては、新型コロナウイルスについては何もすることができませんが、きっと収束する日が来ると信じています。その日が早く訪れることを祈りつつ、「はやぶさ２」の最後の挑戦を進めていきたいと思います。
